Super Overdrive II
Features :
- Independent OD channels with all controls on the front panel.
- OD Non-Stack controls : Drive, OD Volume, adjustable Hit Cut Control (can be bypassed) and unique Varibass control that allows "tweaking" the bass content of the non-stack mode. Rear mounted trim control for Non-Stack channel.
- OD Stack Channel has Drive, OD Volume, Treble, Middle and Bass controls. Rear mounted trim control.
- New no-load reverb circuit. Featuring dual Reverb controls, one for Clean mode and one for OD mode. The reverb can be totally switched out of the circuit.
- Buffered effects loop, tube driven, can be totally bypassed by rear panel switch.
- Non-Buffered insert jacks on back of amp allow use of external active loops (like the Glaswerks Matchbox)
- 5 button footswitch. Clean/OD Switch, Tone Stack Boost, OD Select (Stack or non-Stack channel), Mid boost and loop control
- Options :
- Tolex / Grill : pretty much whatever is available, except, of course, diamond style grill cloth. Some are a small upcharge.
- Bright On Clean only: This modification setups the amp so that the bright switch only effects the amp in clean mode. All amps have a three position bright switch. Center off, Up a little more brightness, down a lot more brightness.
- EL34 or 6L6, 50 or 100 Watts (or 4-6V6)
Voicing options :
- Santa Cruz: Brighter tone, Less gain. Notes have a fuzziness in OD mode. Modeled after early ODS amps. Best in non-stack mode.
- Desert Sky : More gain, more focused upper mids and very tight bass response. Modeled after the 80's ODS amps. Very usable in both stack and non-stack modes. Tone stack boost has roll-off below 800hertz reducing the mud factor when it is enabled.
- AZ Bluesman : More but softer bass attack. The bass control center is approximately 130 hertz (as compared to 80hertz for the Desert Sky) More bass bloom, shifted mid scoop (800hertz) so there are more lower mids and less upper mids. Tone stack boost is virtually ruler flat so there is a lot of everything. Works best in stack mode with the boost enabled. Also works well in non-stack mode as long as the boost is off. Modeled after the later 90's and beyond ODS amps.
- Bluesky : Gives both both the Desert Sky and AZ Bluesman in one amp.
- De Leo : Think Fender Twin on Steriods. Chimey Cleans and scooped mids with nice clean bottom end.
- Custom voicing : have something in your head, describe it. Better yet send a recording. I will do my best to match the sound if at all possible with this style of amp.
- Other options : EL34 vs 6L6, Half power switch for 100 watt amps.
